The owner of a vacant and dilapidated house got quite a shock after the property incurred hundreds of thousands of pesos worth of electric bills.

According to Emil Sumangil’s report on “24 Oras,” the property of Valerio Rosales, in the middle of the year, racked up a bill worth more than P29,000 despite being unoccupied.

It later had bills of more than P109,000 and over P256,000.

Rosales said he then repeatedly went to Meralco to complain, but nothing came of it.

“Syempre, masama ang loob ko,” Rosales said.

GMA News’ Kapuso Action Man sought word from Meralco.

In a statement, Meralco said its investigation showed one of Rosales’ neighbors tapped into his existing connection and used his electricity.

It said it had already cut the illegal connection.

The neighbor who made the illegal connection has been identified and would be the one from whom the bill would be collected, Meralco said. –NB, GMA News
