SAN ILDEFONSO, Ilocos Sur — Couples, families and visitors now have a new destination in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte following the opening on Monday, Oct. 19, of the Love Lock Bridge, a tourist attraction where people can attach padlocks as symbols of love and commitment.

The attraction, located at the old bridge in Barangay La Paz, was developed through the initiative of Mayor James Bryan Alcid and his wife, Jojami, as part of efforts to promote local tourism and create a new gathering place for residents and visitors.

Inspired by love-lock traditions in other tourist destinations, the bridge allows visitors to attach padlocks to designated areas as a symbolic gesture of affection, friendship and lasting relationships.
