Dropout Sets ‘MP3’ Starring Jeremy Culhane, Paul F. Tompkins as Its First Scripted Live-Action Series in Seven Years

Dropout has ordered its first new original scripted live-action series since it became Dropout.

The media company formerly known as CollegeHumor will launch a three-episode music video countdown spoof series titled “MP3” on its comedy streaming service Dropout this November.

Per the logline for the new show, “Welcome to the world of ‘MP3’ — a satirical music video countdown show from Dropout featuring three new absurd music videos each episode. Join hosts Dane Cartel (Jeremy Culhane), Dr. Muse-Tina, (Skye Townsend), and Chia (Aparna Nancherla) as they interview wild guests, get into spats with producer Thomas Cartel (Paul F. Tompkins), and introduce new music videos performed by Dropout comedians such as Lou Wilson, Lily Du, Katie Marovitch and more.”

The series is written by Zach Reino and Jess McKenna who also do the show’s musical compositions. Each song featured on “MP3″ will be released on music streaming platforms after the respective episode’s premiere.

“MP3″ will debut Nov. 4 on Dropout. New episodes will roll out every two weeks through the season finale on Dec. 2.

Best known for its genre-breaking competition series “Game Changer” and its hit D & D-actual-play show “Dimension 20,” Dropout will mark its return to the live-action scripted format with “MP3″ after a seven-year break during which time the company rebranded from CollegeHumor. During that time, the focus became unscripted content with a few animated scripted projects.

Previous scripted live-action Dropout/CollegeHumor series include “Ultramechatron Team Go!,” “Kingpin Katie,” workplace sketch comedy “Hardly Working” and “Star Wars” parody series “Troopers,” among others.
