How many sweeps have there been in the World Series?

Translate

There have been 21 sweeps in World Series history, and one more is possible tonight as the Milwaukee Brewers take on the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 4 of the 2026 World Series.

If they pull off the sweep tonight, the Brewers not only will win their first World Series in franchise history, but also will join the 1976 Cincinnati Reds as the only teams to sweep both the LCS and the World Series.

The American League has 13 sweeps under its belt, while the National League has eight. Eight of the 13 American League sweeps have been dealt by the New York Yankees. In the National League, the New York/San Francisco Giants have achieved three sweeps, while the Cincinnati Reds have two sweeps to their name.
