KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 9 — The government will table an E-Commerce Bill at the next parliamentary sitting to strengthen accountability among online platforms and sellers, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said.

He said the government was urgently examining legislative and enforcement measures to protect micro, small and medium enterprises from unfair competition and ensure goods purchased by consumers were safe.

“The government takes seriously the concerns of small traders over the presence of foreign e-commerce companies entering the domestic market without adequate oversight and enforcement,” he said when tabling Budget 2027 in the Dewan Rakyat today.

The fifth Madani Budget, themed “Malaysia Madani: Menggapai di Langit, Mengakar di Bumi”, is the second budget under the 13th Malaysia Plan. — Bernama
