Ye Makes Surprise Appearance at Chris Brown & Usher’s L.A. Show With Hit-Filled Medley

Ye (formerly known as Kanye West) made a surprise appearance during Friday night’s (Sept. 25) Los Angeles stop on Chris Brown and Usher’s R&B Tour.

West sent the SoFi Stadium crowd into a frenzy when he briefly took over the show in the midst of Breezy’s set. Ye rose from underneath the stage in his signature black leather garb and matching mask, while the piano keys from “Runaway” filled the venue, joined by excited shrieks from concertgoers.

Yeezy ran through a hit-filled medley of five songs, spanning the peak of his discography, including smashes such as “Can’t Tell Me Nothing,” “N—as in Paris,” “Flashing Lights” and “All of the Lights.”

The Chicago native — who in recent years has faced backlash over his antisemitic remarks — removed his mask and continued to perform with seemingly more ferocity than his own recent headlining concerts.

West and C. Breezy’s relationship dates back two decades. Their first collaboration came in 2007 when Yeezy joined Brown on Exclusive‘s “Down” in 2007. They’ve continued to link up on tracks such as “Deuces (Remix),” The Life of Pablo‘s “Waves,” Donda‘s “New Again” and Vultures 1‘s “Beg Forgiveness.”

Ye’s L.A. performance marked his first since his Chicago homecoming at Soldier Field earlier in September, when he brought out an army of special guests and reunited with Kid Cudi.

Yeezy released his Bully album in March, which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, and has been performing stadium shows worldwide. He’ll be taking the stage in Jakarta, Indonesia, on Oct. 24 and then returning to the U.S. for a Halloween performance in Houston.

As for Chris Brown and Usher, after a pair of SoFi Stadium performances, they’ll be returning to Los Angeles on Nov. 20 and Nov. 21. The R&B Tour continues on Tuesday (Sept. 29) with a show in Glendale, Ariz., at State Farm Stadium.
