Big Blow! Orlando Pirates key defender to miss the Kaizer Chiefs match

Translate

Orlando Pirates could be without Kamogelo Sebelebele for the match against Kaizer Chiefs this weekend.

The Buccaneers play rivals Amakhosi at the FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon in a Betway Premiership.

Sebelebele was the hero for Pirates in the last Soweto Derby as he scored the equalising goal in the 1-1 draw last season. On Saturday, however, the speedy wingback is set to miss out.

He sustained an injury during the MTN8 final and has been sidelined since, missing subsequent fixtures, including a recent CAF Champions League and Carling Knockout Cup match against Milford FC on Tuesday.

Sebelebele has been one of Pirates best players so far this season.

Who will Pirates field against Chiefs at right back?

Abdeslam Ouaddou will put his trust in Bulelani Sigomoshe to do the job at right-back if Sebelebele is not fit for Saturday’s match.

The 26-year-old has played six matches for the Sea Robbers this season and has hardly put a foot wrong. Although he doesn’t have Sebelebele’s pace, he is solid in defence and rarely goes forward.

This means Abdeslam Ouaddou will rely on either Mohau Nkota or Kabelo Kgositsile to run at the Chiefs left side. Given Sigomoshe can also slot into midfield, it can give the likes of Thalente Mbatha the freedom to go forward during the match.

Pirates will need to be solid at the back to stop Chiefs from hitting them on the counter. The likes of Wandile Duba will feast if the Bucs defence is unsettled.
