Lucky Number Unveils First Image Of Hiam Abbass In Psychological Thriller ‘Daughter Of Eden’ – AFM

EXCLUSIVE: Lucky Number has released a first image of Succession star Hiam Abbass in London-set psychological thriller Daughter of Eden, in which she plays a woman suspected of having connections with the Saddam Hussein regime in a past life.

The Paris-based sales company is gearing up for an AFM sales launch for the debut feature of Iranian British director Ahmadi, after buzzy shorts including the BIFA nominated Bitter Sea and Leila’s Blues which screened at Cannes Directors’ Fortnight as part of Tunisia Factory.

The cast also features Yasmin Al-Khudhairi ( (A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder), Amir El-Masry (Giant) and Lindsay Duncan (Birdman).

Al-Khudhairi stars as British Iraqi nurse who begins to suspect that one of her patients may be connected to the fate of her parents under Saddam Hussein’s rule in Iraq.

Driven by a desperate need to uncover the truth about her family’s past, she becomes increasingly entangled in the life of her patient, as her search for answers threatens to consume her and blur the line between justice and revenge.

Beyond its psychological thriller premise, Daughter of Eden explores the lasting trauma of political persecution and the legacy of violence across generations.

“Daughter of Eden began with a question I kept coming back to: how far might someone go for justice when the past still feels painfully present? I wanted to explore the pain that can stay with a person long after the violence itself has ended,” said Ahmadi.

The film is produced by Jack Tarling of Shudder Films (Kneecap, God’s Own Country) and Pietro Greppi of Lunapark Pictures (Flux Gourmet) in co-production with Jackie Larkin of Newgrange Pictures.

It is funded by the BFI (awarding National Lottery funding) and BBC Film, in association with Screen Ireland, Civic Studios and Three Point Capital (TPC), with the BFI and BBC Film having previously developed the project.

“We are very excited to be working on Fateme Ahmadi’s debut feature, a compelling psychological thriller that builds an unsettling sense of tension and uncertainty, drawing audiences deeper into its world until the very end,” said Lucky Number.

“Daughter of Eden skilfully revisits the perpetrator–victim relationship by taking a careful and in-depth look at the psychology of its characters, reflecting on the uncomfortable questions and exploring the lasting consequences of trauma and political violence.”

Lucky Number will be screening a first promo-reel for the film at the AFM.

“We’re excited to partner with Lucky Number to give an exclusive first glimpse of the film to distributors at AFM whilst we make the finishing touches,” said Tarling and Greppi.

Lucky Number was launched by Olivier Barbier, Ola Byszuk and Lenny Porte in 2024 with a focus on ambitious French and international auteur films with a global appeal.

Remaining true to its founding mission, its 2026 slate has featured Berlinale Perspectives title Where To? By Assaf Machnes; Cannes Un Certain Regard selection Strawberries by Laïla Marrakchi, which is Morocco’s 2027 Oscars entry; Directors’ Fortnight selected Death Has No Master by Jorge Thielen Armand, which is Venezuela’s entry, and Jacqueline Lentzou’s Venice Orizzonti Best Director winner Day in the Life of Jo: Chapter Phaedra.
