A man has died after entering a tiger enclosure at Yorkshire Wildlife Park in northern England and being attacked by one of the animals, police have confirmed.
South Yorkshire Police said the man was pronounced dead at the scene despite efforts by medical personnel who responded to the incident on Saturday, October 10, 2026.
In an update published on its website on Saturday, the police said it received reports at about 1:35pm that a man had entered the tiger enclosure at the wildlife park near Doncaster.
“The tiger subsequently attacked the man, resulting in serious injury,” the police said.
The force added that the man’s family had been informed and was receiving support from specialist officers.
“Regarding rumours surrounding the condition of the tiger, the animal was uninjured and remained in the enclosure following the incident and there is no wider risk to the public,” the statement said.

Following the incident, the wildlife park was evacuated as police officers remained at the scene to investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack.
The park, in a statement, said it was working closely with the authorities to establish what happened.
“We are working closely with the authorities to ascertain exactly what happened,” it said.
The police also urged members of the public not to share videos of the incident circulating online.
