Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian Foreign Minister Arrmanatha Nasir and Qatar’s Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al Khulaifi held talks on the development of industry sectors and joint efforts to support Palestine.

During a telephone call on Thursday (November 5), the two diplomats discussed avenues to deepen bilateral economic partnerships, including in strategic industries.

"We also reaffirmed our shared commitment to multilateral cooperation," Arrmanatha said on his official X account on Friday (November 6).

Arrmanatha conveyed Indonesia’s appreciation for Qatar’s proactive mediation and diplomatic role in fostering regional stability in the Middle East, alongside Doha’s continued advocacy for Palestinian independence and sovereignty.

"We look forward to the high-level visit and the Strategic Dialogue in 2027, building on the 50th anniversary of Indonesia-Qatar diplomatic relations this year," Arrmanatha added.

According to the state-run Qatar News Agency (QNA), Al Khulaifi opened the conversation by congratulating Arrmanatha on his appointment as foreign minister on October 1.

Beyond developments in Gaza and the wider Middle East, both sides exchanged views on the situation in Afghanistan and other issues of common interest.

Al Khulaifi reaffirmed Doha’s commitment to supporting diplomatic solutions that uphold maritime navigation security and advance a comprehensive framework for sustainable peace across the region.

Bilateral diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Qatar were formally established in 1976. Bilateral engagement deepened with the opening of the Qatari Embassy in Jakarta in 1997, followed by the establishment of the Indonesian Embassy in Doha in 1999.

According to data from the Indonesian Ministry of Trade, Indonesia's exports to Qatar stood at US$736.8 million last year, while imports from Qatar totaled US$1.26 billion, consisting predominantly of oil and gas products valued at US$776.1 million.
