Anele calls for Andre Esterhuizen ban over alleged K-word scandal

Anele Mdoda has called for Springbok Andre Esterhuizen to be banned from playing after allegations that he said the K-word during a schoolboy match in 2012.

The former Krugersdorp High School student will captain the national team in their match against the Wallabies in Australia this weekend.

On X, South African rugby players have reacted to news that Andre Esterhuizen was named the 68th Springbok captain in history.

While many have congratulated the 32-year-old on his achievement, others have revisited a report that claimed that a rugby player, with the same name as him, was found guilty of saying the K-word during a schoolboy match in 2012.

At the time, Andre was completing his Matric year at Krugersdorp High School.

Anele Mdoda also reacted to the news of the racial-slur allegations with a stern message.

“He should be banned from playing rugby period!”, she tweeted, seemingly about Andre Esterhuizen.

In the comments, the 947 presenter was inundated with criticism over her “race-baiting” views.

THE K-WORD SCANDAL: WHAT HAPPENED?

According to reports, a rugby player named Andre Esterhuizen faced disciplinary action in 2012.

This followed claims that he had called Thabo Molete, the coach of the Potchefstroom Gymnasium, a “f**king k*****” during the match.

The then 18-year-old was found guilty of misconduct and was handed a year’s ban, which later became a six-month suspension, provided he underwent a life skills course.

As a result, he missed participation in Craven Week.

Andre matriculated from Klerksdorp High School in 2012 and moved to Durban in 2013, where he joined the Sharks.

Over the years, the rugby player has never addressed the allegations.
