Translate

A senior Brisbane police officer has been charged with sexual assault.

The Queensland Police Service made the charge public on Sunday, but did not name the officer.

The 51-year-old senior sergeant was charged with one count of sexual assault, and is expected to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday.

The alleged assault occurred while the officer was off-duty.

The alleged assault occurred while the officer was off-duty, a QPS spokesperson said.

“In keeping with our commitment to high standards of behaviour, transparency and accountability, we have undertaken to inform the public when a member of the service faces serious allegations of misconduct,” they said.

“This does not mean that the allegations against the member have been substantiated.”

The officer has been stood down, they added.
