Khairul Aming’s Threads post from London holiday sparks matchmaking bids

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 21 — Khairul Aming may have travelled to London to give his mother the holiday she had long been asking for, but the popular entrepreneur and content creator has found himself facing an unexpected side effect of his latest Threads post — a flood of marriage proposals.

The 33-year-old recently posted a tongue-in-cheek “introduction” on Threads, listing his personal credentials as being able to cook, good with children, fond of business and having once caught anchovies, while also revealing that he is allergic to shrimp paste.

“Hello, nice to meet you. I’m 33, I can cook, I’m good at taking care of children, I like doing business, I’m allergic to shrimp paste, I’ve caught anchovies before, I’m always busy with work but I can make time for holidays,” he wrote.

He then added one important clarification for anyone getting ideas from the photograph accompanying his post: “The child in the picture is not my child.”

That was apparently all the invitation some Threads users needed.

One commenter responded with a mock introduction of her own, saying she was 31, could not cook but knew how to eat good food, liked talking and might be able to help with marketing, before getting straight to the important question: “How do I get a slot at Rembayung?”

Others were considerably more direct, with one woman introducing herself as a 38-year-old single mother of two who had been single for 10 years and held two master’s degrees.

She said she had put her career aside to focus on raising her children after her divorce before cheekily adding that she would like to get to know Khairul.

Another commenter offered up her 26-year-old daughter, describing her as a doctor who was hardworking, could cook, teach the Quran and loved travelling — but apparently had yet to find a partner.

“Would KA be willing to get to know her?” she asked.

There was even a self-described “green flag” applicant from Selangor who said she was 26 and single, could take care of children and loved mothers.

She said she wanted to work with Khairul and become his partner, adding: “If KA approves, just DM me.”

Khairul, however, has given no indication that he is actually conducting a recruitment drive for a future wife.

Instead, his London posts suggest the trip is very much about family.

Three days ago, he shared a photo from the British capital with the caption: “Greetings from the city of London”

“Mum has been asking to go on holiday for a long time, but her son never wants to take a break. This time, we cleared the calendar to take Mum travelling,” he wrote.

His friend Kemey also apparently had an important role to play in the expedition.

“Kemey said she had to come because she’s in charge of reading Google Maps,” Khairul joked.

So while Khairul may have escaped his famously packed work schedule for a few days in London, it appears his Threads followers have decided there is another item that could use some attention on his calendar: finding a partner.
