Championship roundup: Middlesbrough win seven-goal thriller; Burnley lose again

Callum Styles earned West Brom a point as they came from behind to draw 1-1 against QPR at The Hawthorns. It meant they failed to regain their position on top of the table after West Ham beat Wrexham 6-0 on Friday.

A Chris Mepham own goal put QPR in front in the 38th minute but that lead lasted three minutes as Styles equalised to extend West Brom’s unbeaten home record to 11 games.

The home side had slightly more of the chances but against the run of play Rangers took the lead. Kwame Poku sent Rumarn Burrell racing clear and he turned his man before forcing Max O’Leary into a diving save, only for the rebound to hit Mepham on the head and bounce into the unguarded net.

West Brom levelled when Styles, who was playing in an unfamiliar right-back role, curled home a low shot from just outside the area.

Substitute Thierry Gale headed a 90th-minute winner as Bolton ended a run of four successive Championship defeats with a 1-0 victory over Cardiff. The Barbados international stole in at the far post to convert a left-wing cross from Theo Bair.

Cardiff would have shared the spoils but for some excellent work by the Bolton goalkeeper, Gavin Bazunu.

Paik Seung-ho scored his first goal since December to give Birmingham a 2-1 victory over Derby at Pride Park. Bobby Clark put Derby ahead only for Carlos Vicente to reply two minutes later and Paik won it after a lengthy stoppage for what looked like a serious injury to Derby’s Henrik Meister.
