Robbers kill Lagos party guest, dump body in river

A man identified simply as Tosin has reportedly been killed by suspected cultists after he was allegedly robbed in the Egbin area of Ijede, Ikorodu, Lagos State.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the incident occurred on Tuesday, September 15, after Tosin travelled from Ondo State to attend an event in the community.

According to a police source who spoke to our correspondent on Tuesday, Tosin briefly stepped out of the venue while the event was ongoing when he was allegedly accosted and attacked by some hoodlums.

The source said the assailants allegedly dispossessed him of his gold chains, mobile phones and other personal belongings before killing him.

The victim’s body was subsequently dumped at inside a river, according to the source.

“His body was discovered in a river in Agura on Thursday. It was later deposited in the morgue,” the source disclosed.

Another police source said the discovery of the body prompted operatives to raid the area on Friday, leading to the arrest of some suspects.

“The arrested suspects were taken into custody for questioning. The police have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Tosin’s death and the identities of those behind the alleged killing,” the source said.

The source added that efforts were ongoing to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident and apprehend other suspects who might have been involved.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, could not be reached for comment as calls made to her telephone lines were unanswered.

A text message sent to her had also yet to be replied to as of the time of filing this report.

She said, “The case at hand  as of September 15, 2026, was that of missing person which was transferred to the SCID but by September 18, 2026. A corpse which was identified to be his was found floating. The case is been investigated at the SCID.”
