Kaizer Chiefs injury update: Phili, Petersen, Maboe, Mayo

Translate

Kaizer Chiefs have been without several key players since the recent FIFA international break, with injuries continuing to affect their squad.

Amakhosi captain Brandon Petersen has been sidelined since sustaining an injury during training last month, with Renaldo Leaner stepping in to replace him between the posts.

Experienced midfielder Lebohang Maboe is another notable absentee.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns player was released from the Bafana Bafana squad last month due to injury and is expected to spend a few weeks on the sidelines.

Kaizer Chiefs were also without new signings Langelihle Phili and Adolf Mtasingwa for their recent encounter against Stellenbosch FC, with both players unavailable due to injury.

Meanwhile, Amakhosi supporters are still waiting to see Khanyisa Mayo make his first appearance of the season. The striker missed the start of the campaign, as well as the club’s pre-season training camp in Spain, after undergoing surgery for a hernia.

Kaizer Chiefs welcome back a few players

There is some positive news for the Soweto giants, with Mayo having resumed first-team training at Naturena alongside teammate Flavio Silva. Both players are working towards regaining full match fitness.

Chiefs have also received a boost with the returns of Bradley Cross, Paseka Mako and Silva, providing head coach Fernando Da Cruz with additional options as the team looks to navigate a demanding period of the season.

Mayo’s return to full fitness will be particularly encouraging for Amakhosi fans, who are eager to see what the striker can offer after his injury setback. However, it remains to be seen when he will be ready to make his long-awaited debut for the club.
