#NSTviral: Strong winds send trader's stall rolling across road in Sepang

Translate

KUALA LUMPUR: Strong winds sent a trader's stall rolling across a road in Salak Tinggi, Sepang, today, forcing a motorist to reverse to avoid hitting it.

The incident was captured in a video shared by Threads user @miyaaaaaw29, who also posted photographs of collapsed canopies and stall structures near a row of shophouses.

"Be strong, all you traders," the user wrote.

The video showed the stall being swept along the road by strong winds during a heavy downpour.

One photograph showed a red canopy cover lying on a road divider beside a lamp post, while its collapsed metal frame was strewn across the grass near a stack of plastic chairs.

Another showed a person holding an umbrella beside a roadside stall, whose canopy had been reduced to its bare frame.

Red containers, a blue tarpaulin and a board were also seen scattered on the grass nearby.

The post has since garnered more than 23,000 views.

Another Threads user, @fasihahhaziz, said strong winds had battered the area.

"The wind in Sepang earlier was really strong. May things be made easier for the traders there," the user commented.

Meanwhile, Threads user @latifmat_ advised motorists to avoid driving during storms and stop at a safe place instead.

"If there's a storm, it's better not to drive. Stop first at a safe area.

"There's a danger of accidents, floods, fallen trees and so on," the user commented.

Heavy rain this evening also triggered flash floods in several parts of the Klang Valley, inundating roads in Setapak, Saujana Utama and Puncak Alam.
