Woman comes forward to claim R112 million PowerBall prize

Translate

The winner of South Africa’s recent R112 million PowerBall jackpot has come forward to claim her life-changing prize following the draw on 13 October 2026.

As reported by The South African, the winning ticket was purchased at OK Foods Meyerton, with the player emerging as the sole jackpot winner in PowerBall draw number 1763.

Meyerton is a small industrial and residential town located 18km north of Vereeniging in Gauteng.

The five numbers drawn were 3, 15, 24, 30, 31 while the PowerBall bonus ball – which is also required in winning the jackpot – was 7.

Coming to terms with the win

The woman, who played the National Lottery only occasionally, said she was still coming to terms with the extraordinary win.

“I never imagined winning this amount,” she said.

Her husband has been playing the National Lottery regularly for years, while she participated only from time to time. Neither expected their participation to result in a jackpot worth R112 million.

Despite the enormous windfall, the winner says her priorities remain firmly focused on her family and ensuring their needs are taken care of.

“It means a lot. It will definitely change our lives. I will continue being the person I always was; I will just be able to take care of our family’s needs even more,” she said.

R112 million win set to change family’s future

The winner is taking time to absorb the news and consider the opportunities the money could bring.

According to Sizekhaya Holdings, the operator of the National Lottery, the winner’s focus is on providing for her loved ones while remaining true to herself.

A prize of this size also brings important financial decisions. Sizekhaya said its winner support services help jackpot winners access financial guidance and resources as they plan for the future.

Whitney Mafatle, Winner Services Manager at Sizekhaya Holdings, said the stories behind lottery wins highlighted the personal significance of the prizes.

“The stories behind every win truly are touching and a reminder of the person. Everyone has dreams, and these wins take a winner one step closer to those dreams,” Mafatle said.

Players urged to check their tickets

Sizekhaya Holdings congratulated the winner and her family on the milestone, while reminding National Lottery players to check their tickets after every draw.

The R112 million jackpot win is a reminder that even occasional participation can result in a major prize, although lottery outcomes are based on chance and winning is never guaranteed.

For the winner and her family, the focus now turns to planning for the future and making decisions that will help them make the most of their newfound financial security.

PowerBall jackpot reset

Friday, 23 October’s PowerBall jackpot stands at an estimated R16 million, while the PowerBall Extra jackpot is an estimated R21 million.
