Stranger Things star Noah Schnapp and former Strictly Come Dancing professional Janette Manrara have teamed up for the play Affluenza, currently showing at Riverside Studios, London.

Set in the wealthy social haven of the Hamptons, Affluenza follows a teenager involved in a drunken car ride that ends in disaster.

It is written by Andy Sandberg, who was previously a producer on the Broadway revival of Hair in 2009.

They are joined by Bridgerton and Dear Evan Hansen star Rupert Young and Madame Secretary’s Wallis Currie-Wood.

The show, originally set to run until November 21, has been extended due to ticket demand and will now end on November 28.

Playwright and director Sandberg said: “We’ve been thrilled by the audience’s reaction to Affluenza in previews.

“The extraordinary cast have brought my characters to life in the most wonderful way, and we’re set for a phenomenal run between now and 28 November.”

Manrara was a professional dancer on Strictly Come Dancing from series 11 to series 18 and later hosted spin-off show It Takes Two.

The dancer also confirmed she chemistry-tested to be a host on the current series, which is being presented by Emma Willis, Josh Widdecombe and Johannes Radebe.

Speaking on Jamie Laing’s Good Company podcast, she said: “I felt like I was a front runner.

“They just decided to go elsewhere and of course it hit hard. Of course I was devastated.”
