Brillstein Entertainment Partners Signs Uruguayan Filmmaker Rodo Sayagues
EXCLUSIVE: Brillstein has signed writer-director Rodo Sayagues for management in all areas.
Sayagues most recently co-wrote Alien: Romulus alongside frequent collaborator Fede Álvarez for 20th Century Studios and Ridley Scott’s Scott Free Productions. With the film grossing more than $350 million worldwide, the duo recently completed the script for a sequel.
A native Uruguayan, Sayagues first gained recognition through his short films before co-writing Álvarez’s 2012 take on Evil Dead. He followed that up by writing and producing Álvarez’s Sony horror film Don’t Breathe, which was both a critical and commercial success at a worldwide gross of $158 million.
Sayagues made his directorial debut with Don’t Breathe 2, which he also wrote for Sony Pictures. He then produced and wrote the story for Netflix’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre, continuing his work across some of horror’s most iconic franchises, and is currently writing a film for Andy Muschietti and Warner Bros., while developing his next directorial feature to be produced by Michael Schaefer and Álvarez.
Sayagues continues to be represented by WME and attorney Karl Austen.
