Sewage leak on railway track causes Overground and Tube disruption

A sewage leak was causing disruption to two key London public transport services on Friday afternoon.

A leak on the railway line at Watford High Street caused a partial suspension of the Overground’s Lioness line.

The problem was also affecting the Tube’s Bakerloo line, which was experiencing severe delays between Stonebridge Park and Harrow & Wealdstone.

It comes as National Rail warned a fire next to the track between Watford Junction and London Euston meant trains running between the stations could be cancelled.

Meanwhile, the Elizabeth line was suffering a seventh day of disruption between Paddington and Heathrow due to vandalism to railway equipment around Kensal Green.

A trackside fire caused overhead wire damage last week, leading to significant disruption for passengers.
