Voting in Maluso, Basilan for the first parliamentary elections will be on Tuesday, September 15, following the discovery of pre-shaded ballots, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said Monday evening.
Comelec chairperson George Garcia said the ballots arrived at 6 p.m. and will be directly distributed to electoral board members early Tuesday morning, and instead of storing them in municipal halls.
Meanwhile, the elections will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
"Ito po ay darating ngayong. Bukas ng madaling araw ay ididistribute din sa mga electoral board member natin," Garcia said during a press briefing at Comelec Command Center in Cotabato City.
(The ballots already arrived. It will be distributed to our electoral board members on early Tuesday.)
Garcia earlier explained that the election on Tuesday will be "just a continuation, not a resetting or postponement of the election."
The Comelec earlier placed Maluso under its control after 36 of the 86 precincts were compromised due to pre-shaded ballots.
This means Comelec will take over the direct command of local government workers and police officers in the area.
Garcia had said that authorities had details on the alleged culprit and that he had ordered the reprinting of ballots for the affected precincts. —LDF, GMA News
