Edie Falco To Star In Legal Drama ‘Katie Greaves’ Ordered To Series By Fox

EXCLUSIVE: Fox has greenlighted Katie Greaves (working title), a character-driven legal drama starring four-time Emmy winner Edie Falco in the title role. The series, which will premiere during the 2027-28 season, comes from playwright and TV writer Sharr White (Apple TV’s Presumed Innocent), Scott Free Productions (FX’s Alien: Earth) and Fox Entertainment Studios.

Katie Greaves was one of three Fox drama projects that emerged as frontrunners for a series pickup back in January, along with The Interrogator and Blood Ties by Tom Szentgyorgyi. Katie Greaves‘ order follows The Interrogator‘s February greenlight for the 2026-27 season.

Word of the pickup started circulating a little over two weeks ago. The order became official after the network set Falco as the lead. This is a strategy Fox has been increasingly employing for its dramas, greenlighting Best Medicine with Josh Charles attached to star and Memory of a Killer with Patrick Dempsey in final negotiations for the title role. Falco, Charles and Dempsey are all popular TV stars.

Written by White, who serves as showrunner, Katie Greaves centers on the eponymous heroine (Falco), a whip-smart, fiercely committed attorney who stepped away from the New Hampshire Public Defender’s office following a devastating personal tragedy. Now raising her two young granddaughters with her husband and trying to piece together a life she never expected, Katie is drawn back to the work that once defined her. Each case tests Katie’s instincts, wit, and deeply held belief that everyone deserves a second chance…and someone to fight for them.

The series is executive produced by White, Falco and Scott Fee’s Ridley Scott and David W. Zucker. Fox Entertainment Studios produces with worldwide distribution by Fox Entertainment Global.

This marks the second new Fox scripted series for 2027-28 following the recent pickup for comedy Mammoth. Both are from Fox Entertainment Studios amid a push by the network to increase ownership of its scripted content. (The Interrogator is a co-production between Lionsgate TV and Fox Entertainment Studios.)

Falco, who won three Emmys for playing Carmela Soprano in HBO’s The Sopranos and another one for the title role in Showtime’s Nurse Jackie, is coming off a starring role opposite Jeremy Renner in Paramount+’s Mayor of Kingstown, which recently wrapped production on its fifth and final season. Falco, whose recent credits also include the off-Broadway play The True and Morning Sun and the movie Avatar: Fire and Ash, is repped by CAA and Entertainment 360.

White’s TV writing credits also include Apple TV’s Palm Royale, Showtime’s The Affair and Netflix’s Halston. As playwright, his Broadway works include The Other Place, The Snow Geese, and Pictures from Home. He is repped by WME and Schreck, Rose, Dapello, Adams, Berlin & Dunham.
