Comedian Jaron Myers Getting ‘Happier’ With 800 Pound Gorilla Special

Translate

EXCLUSIVE: Comic Jaron Myers has announced that he’ll release his new special Happier on streamer Gorilla Comedy+ on Nov. 16. This will be followed by a YouTube premiere at 7 p.m. CT on Dec. 15.

With more than a million fans and two specials behind him, Myers has made a career out of clean, fast, story-driven comedy. Here, he turns his marriage, upbringing and questionable judgment into what he considers his best hour of stand-up yet. He covers the early years of marriage to a woman he admits is out of his league, a story about a suspected home ghost, and the risk of saying hello to someone you follow online. He also revisits a sheltered 1990s childhood in small-town Missouri, back when kids were turned loose until the streetlights came on, and recounts the night he confidently stopped a robbery (that was not a robbery), plus a crazy college dare. Along the way, he lays out exactly what he would do if anyone were foolish enough to put him in charge and leaves the audience with a simple reminder: our brains will always find what they are trained to look for, so choose to look for joy.

“I’ve poured so much love, energy, and questionable life choices into this hour of comedy,” Myers told Deadline. “It’s clean, high-energy, and built around a message I care about deeply. I’m just thrilled to finally share it with everyone.”

A Missouri native, Myers’ viral videos have racked up over 1 billion views across social media. His breakout special The Blind Date — where he went on a real first date in front of a live audience — ended in a surprising twist: he married her.

Myers also has two stand-up specials on Prime Video, as well as a Dry Bar Comedy special, and co-hosts the educational comedy podcast Things I Learned Last Night, while touring nationally.
