The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) raided the facilities of an online lending app firm and found an illegal text blaster.

According to John Consulta's report on "24 Oras," the agents found almost 100 employees working for the online lending platform when they entered its office in Makati.

The NBI also found the text blaster, which is prohibited under the law.

There were multiple SIM cards inserted in the text blaster. The machine was used for two things: blasting information to promote the lending app, and then demanding borrowers to pay back the company.

The NBI also found evidence that the workers were reaching out to the contacts of the borrower, which was not allowed.

“It's like extortion… Malaking bagay ito, ang hirap na ng buhay, binibiktima pa natin yung mga kapwa natin Pilipino, yung mga paniningil at pananakot na ginagamit,” NBI Director Melvin Matibag said,

(It’s like extortion… This is a big thing; life is hard, and they are victimizing our fellow Filipinos. They are using charges and threats.)

The NBI confiscated the lending app’s equipment, and they are facing multiple cases. –Lyjah Tiffany Bonzo/NB, GMA News
