Muhyiddin: Pas decided to end political cooperation with Bersatu

PETALING JAYA: Pas decided to end its political cooperation with Bersatu, said Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

He said the decision had formally ended political cooperation between the two parties within Perikatan Nasional (PN).

Muhyiddin stressed that the decision was made entirely by Pas, led by Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang, and was not initiated by Bersatu.

"Pas made the decision not to continue cooperating.

"This was not Bersatu's choice (to end the cooperation)," he told reporters at Bersatu's 10th anniversary celebration here today.

On June 9, Pas officially ended its political cooperation with Bersatu with immediate effect.

The decision was made at a special meeting of the Pas Central Working Committee after considering reports, studies and assessments of the current relationship between the two parties.

The meeting endorsed a decision by the Pas Syura Ulama Council on June 2 concerning the policy, religious and public-interest considerations of Pas' political cooperation based on the principle of Muslim unity.
