New Zealand's fast-bowling depth will be tested over the next few days, with members of their T20I side, currently engaged in a series against India, being moved around to take care of "planned workload management", as a New Zealand Cricket (NZC) statement put it.

Lockie Ferguson will not travel to Wellington, the venue of the third T20I on Tuesday, and instead go to Auckland on Sunday to be available for the fourth and fifth T20Is, in Auckland on Friday and in Hamilton next Sunday.

Matt Henry will stay on in Christchurch, where the first two T20Is were played, and miss the last three T20Is. He will instead travel to Auckland ahead of the first ODI between New Zealand and India, to be played on November 4.

Kyle Jamieson, who didn't play either of the first two T20Is, will travel to Wellington for the third game and remain there after the game to be available for Canterbury's Ford Trophy second-round game on October 31 against Wellington. He will also leave for Auckland for the ODIs after that.

Blair Tickner will join the T20I squad in Wellington for the last three games, while Josh Clarkson will go to Auckland and be available for the last two T20Is.

Matt Fisher will travel with the squad to Wellington as cover for the third T20I only and will then return to the New Zealand A squad ahead of their second four-day fixture against India A.

"We're very fortunate with the depth in the squad to be able to call upon different players to help manage our pacers workloads, and to try and ensure they are best placed to perform for the team for all the cricket coming up," New Zealand head coach Rob Walter said of the situation.

India are 2-0 up in the five-match series after winning the two games in Christchurch, by identical four-wicket margins. After the remaining T20Is, the two teams will face-off in five ODIs and then two Tests to end the all-format tour in early December.
