'He can keep it': Trevor Lawrence tosses 100th touchdown to rookie wide receiver

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence had no idea he had thrown his 100th career touchdown pass. When he was told during the first half of a 34-10 rout of the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, he asked who had the football.

It'd be nice to keep, especially because he has the ball from his first touchdown pass as a rookie in 2021.

But then he found out that rookie receiver Josh Cameron had it, and Lawrence knew it would mean more for Cameron because it came on his first NFL catch.

"He can keep it," Lawrence said. "I guess I've got to get 200 [touchdown passes] now. I'll keep that one."

Cameron's 4-yard catch with 1:42 remaining in the first quarter between cornerback Denzel Ward and safety Grant Delpit gave the Jaguars a 14-0 lead.

"It's definitely a play that we kind of practiced all week, and whenever I saw the safety kind of cheated over to the left, I was like, 'OK, it's probably going to come my way,'" said Cameron, who also caught a 16-yard pass in the third quarter. "Usually in practice, [our defense] was cheating the other way, but I'm like, 'OK, let me lock in.' And so, I just did my job, and then I turned and as soon as the ball kind of came at me, it was there."

Lawrence threw two more touchdown passes and now has 102 in his career, which puts him one behind Blake Bortles for second place on the franchise's all-time passing TD list. Mark Brunell is first with 146.

Lawrence is also now the fourth player in NFL history with 100-plus passing touchdowns and 20-plus rushing touchdowns before age 27, joining Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, and Cam Newton.
