The Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) is expecting around 1.9 million passengers this year amid the exodus for this year's All Saints' Day (Undas) break.

PITX spokesperson Jason Salvador said on Sunday that the influx of passengers is expected on the week of October 25.

"We still anticipate around 1.9 million passengers from the week of October 25, next Sunday 'yan, hanggang sa Araw ng mga Patay. So marami-rami pa rin 'yan, kaya naman tuloy-tuloy ang ating paghahanda," he told Super Radyo dzBB in an interview.

(We still anticipate around 1.9 million passengers from the week of October 25—that's next Sunday—up until All Saints' Day. So that's still quite a large number, which is why our preparations are continuous.)

The PITX official said that the increase in passengers is expected every year as bus companies add more trips to provinces.

He added that more passengers are expected to flock to PITX due to the accessibility brought by the LRT-1 PITX Station.

"Lalong lalo na 'yung nadagdagan 'yung LRT station mismo dito PITX, mas naging accessible sa kanila pumunta dito," said Salvador.

(Especially now that an LRT station was added right here at PITX, it has become more accessible for them to come here.)

The All Saints' Day will fall on Sunday, November 1, while the All Souls' Day will be on Monday, November 2. Both are special non-working days.

Over 111,000 policemen will be deployed to enforce security across the country for the observance of Undas, more than doubling the manpower compared to last year.

According to the Department of the Interior and Local Government, the Philippine National Police will beef up security in cemeteries and other areas of convergence. —KG, GMA News
