Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson exits game vs. Titans with ankle injury

Translate

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson did not start the second half of Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans because of an ankle injury.

Jackson was on the sideline without a helmet during the Ravens’ first possession of the third quarter, with Baltimore holding a 24-7 lead at the time. The team announced that he was questionable to return.

Jackson was off to a hot start before leaving. He completed 15 of 20 passes for 222 yards and two touchdowns in the first half. He also carried the ball twice for 20 yards.

He was tackled on the second-to-last play of the half and appeared to be favoring his ankle after going to the sideline. He was replaced by backup Tyler Huntley to start the third quarter.

Injuries have been an issue at times for Jackson, a two-time MVP. He missed four games last year, and the Ravens went only 2-2 in his absence. Baltimore finished the 2025 season 8-9 and missed the playoffs.

In 2021, Jackson missed five games, and the Ravens went 1-4 without him, missing the playoffs. The following season, he again missed five games and didn’t play in Baltimore’s first-round playoff loss.

The Ravens entered this season with high expectations despite parting ways with previous head coach John Harbaugh. He was replaced by former Los Angeles Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter, who was a defensive coach under Harbaugh in Baltimore from 2017 to 2020.

The Ravens entered Sunday with a 2-1 record, defeating the Indianapolis Colts and Dallas Cowboys with their only loss coming against the New Orleans Saints.

Jackson, 29, is in his ninth season with Baltimore, which selected him with the final pick of the first round in the 2018 NFL draft. Entering Sunday, he had thrown for 745 yards and four touchdowns this season and run for one more score.

Jackson is the second-to-last year of a five-year, $260 million contract he signed in March 2023. He and the Raven reportedly did not seriously discuss a long-term extension before this season.
