Oasis to play Slane Castle in September next year

Oasis are to return to Ireland after announcing they will play Slane Castle in September next year.

The band made the announcement on their social media on Monday afternoon, and confirmed they will play at the venue on September 4 and 5 next year.

The Slane dates will be part of their world tour, and will see them play in the UK, Europe and the US.

Fans must register before Thursday at 4pm for a chance to buy tickets, and those who are successful will be sent a unique code to access tickets.

In a social media post, the band said: “Start the celebrations. After a period of reflection “The most damaging pop cultural force in recent British history” has declared itself fit for purpose and will once again return to life the spirits of the people. Come witness the fitness. It shall be a sight to behold.”

Oasis have played Slane twice, and first appeared in the Co Meath venue in July 1996, as the opening support act for REM and then returned as headliners in June 2009, with The Prodigy, The Blizzards and Kasabian as support acts.

It was their last concert in Ireland before the band split later that year.

Liam and Noel then returned to Ireland last year for the successful Live ’25 tour, and played two sold-out gigs in Dublin’s Croke Park.
