Translate

A 43-year-old Israeli man was killed in a motorcycle accident in the Krabi province of southern Thailand on Saturday, Israel's Foreign Ministry confirmed on Sunday.

The precise circumstances of the accident have not yet been released, although neither news reports nor official ministry statements suggest foul play.

Baruch Nidam, director of ZAKA's International Division, told Walla that the organization began handling the case as soon as the report reached its hotline, coordinating with local authorities in Thailand while ensuring respect for the deceased.

Nidam said efforts were focused on securing the release of the man's body and arranging for its return to Israel for burial.

In a statement, the Foreign Ministry said it "expresses its sorrow over the death of the Israeli citizen in a motorcycle accident in Thailand and shares the family's deep sorrow."

"The Israeli Consul in Bangkok and the Department for Israelis Abroad at the Foreign Ministry are accompanying the family in their difficult time and are working in coordination with the relevant authorities in Thailand and Israel, with the aim of completing the necessary procedures and bringing the deceased to Israel for burial as soon as possible."

Israeli citizen found deceased in Bangkok

In August, a 35-year-old Israeli citizen was found deceased in his hotel room in Bangkok, Thailand.

According to ZAKA, the man, who is married and has a child, had gone on vacation to the country and was found dead in his room during his stay at the hotel.

ZAKA's international division worked with local authorities to release his body and transport it to Israel for burial.
