Country song beats Mariah Carey tune for U.S. chart record
Washington – Country ballad “Choosin’ Texas” from singer Ella Langley on Tuesday broke the record for most weeks topping the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States, unseating a famed Christmas song by Mariah Carey.
The track was released in October and has been No. 1 for 23 weeks in a ranking that includes streaming, radio play, sales and data, the magazine said, adding that its figures are tabulated by the company Luminate.
Langley, 27, thus surpasses Carey’s Christmas anthem “All I Want for Christmas Is You.”
In a video posted to Instagram on Tuesday, the Alabama native said she planned to celebrate the win.
“It’s changing my life. It’s changing lives of the writers of this song. It’s changing lives of my family,” Langley said.
