Intercity buses, Israel Railways to be free on election day, Central Elections Committee decides
The Central Elections Committee decided on Thursday that on election day (October 27) public transportation services on intercity bus lines (over 15 km) and Israel Railways will be free for the general public.
The free bus service will start at 8:00 p.m. on the Monday before the election, and last until the end of public transportation services on election day.
For a list of intercity bus lines available for free travel, passengers can contact the Transportation Ministry’s information center at *8787.
Passengers traveling on an intercity bus line, after verifying that the line is on the list of eligible routes, may board for free, without identification or a ticket.
Passengers traveling by train will receive a designated travel ticket at service counters or ticket machines at stations.
Free transportation to Eilat subject to advance registration
Eligibility for free transportation to Eilat and back will be granted after an eligibility check and subject to advance registration through Egged information centers at *2800.
