Black Mirror boss's new Netflix series confirms exciting cast with MobLand and The Diplomat stars

Charlie Brooker's new series for Netflix, Blackmere, has confirmed a stacked cast, including House of the Dragon and MobLand star Paddy Considine in the titular role of a jaded detective on a mission to avenge the death of his partner.

Known for creating sci-fi anthology series Black Mirror, Brooker is now behind this "absurd comedy disguised as an incredibly serious crime thriller", with Considine starring as Detective John Blackmere. The protagonist leaves the rainy Northern city of Bleakford to move to London, where he intends to avenge his partner's death and catch a ritualistic serial killer.

"Contains blood and frowning," warns the synopsis.

Considine is joined by Black Mirror and The Diplomat's Rory Kinnear, Game of Thrones star Lena Headey, and Barbarian star Georgina Campbell.

Expected to land on Netflix in early 2027, the series has released some first-look images setting the scene for a London that's even bleaker than Bleakford.

In one snap, Considine's Blackmere walks on a high street lined up with rundown shops bearing questionable names, including "Rancid Goods", "Depressing Chicken" and "Used Vapes and Nappies", while he appears to engage in a power play with Headey's police chief character in another.

Blackmere can also be seen crossing a police crime scene delimited with a welcoming tape – "Police - F**k off" in block capitals – and meeting with Kinnear's character, with Campbell's police officer looking worried as she chats with her boss.

Brooker serves as writer for the show alongside Ben Caudell, Jason Hazeley, Emer Kenny, Daniel Maier and Joel Morris, with additional material by Victoria Asare Archer.

He also executive produces together with Jessica Rhoades for Pacesetter Productions, Annabel Jones and Mark Kinsella. Al Campbell sits behind the camera, while Richard Webb produces.

Blackmere releases on Netflix in early 2027.
