Ghanaian gospel musician Philipa Baafi has released a new single, Enko Akyiri (May It Be Far From Me), a song centred on faith, prayer and divine protection.

Released on Friday, October 16, 2026, the Twi-language song encourages believers to trust in God’s protection and confront life’s uncertainties with hope rather than fear.

At the heart of the song is the refrain, “Enko akyiri, emma no emma me so,” which translates as “May it be far away; let it not come upon me.”

The song uses a call-and-response format that invites listeners to participate in declaring its message, turning the lyrics into a collective expression of faith.

According to the release announcement, a section of the song beginning around the 1:20 mark has been identified as a key feature of its digital campaign.

The campaign encourages women, choirs, churches, gospel groups, families and communities in Ghana and across the diaspora to record and share their own interpretations of the declaration.

Inspired by the everyday struggles and spiritual concerns of ordinary people, Enko Akyiri focuses on prayers for protection, preservation and victory over adversity.

“There are things we refuse to accept as our portion. We pray, we believe and we declare: Enko Akyiri,” the statement said.

The release is intended to encourage personal reflection and collective expressions of faith, with its central message urging listeners to remain steadfast in prayer and believe in better days even during difficult seasons.

Through its distinctly Ghanaian gospel sound and participatory chorus, Baafi seeks to transform a personal prayer for divine protection into a shared declaration of faith.
