‘SNL UK’ Cold Open Lampoons Harry & Meghan’s Return: “Don’t Tell Me You’ve Spent All Your Netflix Money Already!”

Saturday Night Live UK returned for its second season — and wasted no time getting stuck into Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

The Sky series cold opened with a sketch (watch above) in which the Duke and Duchess of Sussex (as depicted by Jack Shep and Ayoade Bamgboye) visited the King and Queen in Scotland’s Balmoral Castle.

Larry Dean’s King Charles III was aghast at his child’s reappearance. “Don’t tell me you’ve spent all your Netflix money already,” he asked incredulously.

“It was $60 million. How long was it meant to last?” Prince Harry replied.

Queen Camilla, as played by Emma Sidi, was rather warmer in her reception. “Hello, sweet Harry. And beautiful Meghan, as brown as ever,” she exclaimed.

The latter remark was an apparent reference to the Duke and Duchess’ interview with Oprah Winfrey, in which they revealed that an unnamed member of the royal family had concerns about how dark their unborn son Archie’s skin might be.

Markle, who has hosted two seasons of an unsuccessful Netflix lifestyle series, responded: “Hey Step Queen. I brought you a gift … It’s ice. I made it myself. I can give you the recipe.”

The reunion was interrupted by new UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham (George Fouracres), who was wearing his signature yellow Manchester badge and offered to buy the nation a beer.

“I’m the new PM, and I’m nothing like the last one. Harry, Megan, I’m here to tell you that just because you’re normal folk doesn’t mean your life has to be crap. That is the Burnham promise,” he said.

SNL UK‘s Season 2 premiere was hosted by Jeff Goldblum, who opened with a musical number from the show’s London studio.

The second season will run for six episodes before taking a break and returning in early 2027. Chicken Shop Date host Amelia Dimoldenberg and Stath Lets Flats creator Jamie Demetriou will guest-present the second and third episodes.

All of SNL UK’s cast members have returned, including Hammed Animashaun, Bamgboye, Dean, Celeste Dring, Fouracres, Ania Magliano, Annabel Marlow, Al Nash, Shep, Sidi and Paddy Young. New cast member Freddie Meredith also made his debut.

SNL UK is produced by Universal Television Alternative Studio’s UK production team and Broadway Video. Lorne Michaels serves as executive producer. James Longman is lead producer.
