The Lagos State Police Command has foiled a suspected human trafficking operation in Badagry, Lagos State, and rescued three young girls allegedly being trafficked.

The Force Public Relations Officer, Ani Iniedu, disclosed this in a statement on his X account on Friday.

He said, “A team of policemen on routine patrol intercepted a commercial motorcycle conveying three young girls along Owode Apa Road, Badagry.

“Interrogation revealed the girls were victims of human trafficking. They were rescued and debriefed, while efforts are ongoing to track down the suspected traffickers.”

The FPRO added that the case is currently being investigated by the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba.

In another instance, six suspects have been arrested in Abuja for suspected armed robbery, extortion and homicide.

According to Iniedu, police operatives and the Civilian Joint Task Force raided a notorious criminal hideout in Kado Bimko where they arrested one Abubakar Safiyanu and five other suspects.

“Recovered items include 11 stolen mobile phones, 1 laptop, dangerous weapons, and intoxicating substances. The prime suspect is also implicated in a June 2026 robbery and murder. The case is being investigated by the CID Abuja,” he noted.

Similarly, a suspected gunrunner in Benin City, Edo State, Kingsley Eghaghe, has been arrested by the police.

According to the statement, “Acting on an intelligence report and a lawfully intercepted phone conversation regarding gun running, police operatives tracked and arrested a 52-year-old suspect, Kingsley Eghaghe.

“The suspect has been taken into custody for discreet investigation, with further developments regarding the recovery of arms and ammunition expected. Status: VCRU Benin-City Investigating.”
