Indonesia's financial system remains stable in Q3 2026: KSSK

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Financial System Stability Committee (KSSK) has confirmed that Indonesia’s financial system remained stable throughout the third quarter of 2026.
"The KSSK’s assessment shows that fiscal, monetary, and financial sector stability in the third quarter remained well-maintained, backed by close coordination and policy synergy among authorities," Finance Minister Suahasil Nazara said at a KSSK press conference in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Suahasil explained that the domestic economy continues to show resilience, reflected in solid economic growth and maintained financial intermediation.
However, he noted that the committee has seen rising pressure on Indonesia's economy since early October 2026. This situation has been driven by escalating geopolitical conflicts pushing up global energy prices, alongside tighter monetary policy in several countries.
On the domestic front, tightening liquidity has also become a concern. Additionally, stock market developments triggered by an announcement from Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI) and pressure on the rupiah exchange rate have shaped domestic financial market conditions.
The KSSK also highlighted an increase in capital outflows from the stock market amid these pressures.
"The MSCI announcement regarding stock market conditions has also impacted our economy. Increased pressure on the exchange rate has further led to higher capital outflows from the stock market," he explained.
Despite these various challenges, the KSSK remains optimistic that Indonesia’s economic fundamentals will continue to hold strong enough to support financial system stability. Adaptive policy responses are also seen as key to maintaining economic resilience amidst global uncertainty.
Moving forward, the KSSK will continue to conduct forward-looking assessments of economic and financial sector developments to anticipate potential risks that could disrupt the country's financial system stability.
The committee is also committed to strengthening cooperation with all stakeholders to mitigate the spillover effects of global risks on Indonesia's economy.
