Greta Van Fleet sit down with Billboard News to talk their first new music in three years — “Saw You Stand” — and what it felt like to step away, reset and come back “full steam.” The band also addresses the fan theory about a double album, breaks down the vision for “Palace for the People,” and explains how travel, cultures and world rhythms shaped their next era.

Gentlemen, thank you for coming in. And it’s so wonderful to just see you back, generally. And so I would like to start there. You have recently released two new singles, “Saw You Stand” and “Play Your Games.” And this is your first new music in three years. And so how has it felt having just fresh music out in the world?

Sam Kiszka
You know, we took a break. We couldn’t handle each other anymore. No, we definitely had to take some time off after all the, the wildness of the intense touring … of just this tour. Everything in moderation, right? But no, we’re back, and … we’re coming back full steam, and it’s a lot of fun.

The descent into madness, like, was that real? Like, did you actually really need to take a break?
