Spanish opposition leader Alberto Nunez Feijoo has called for Spain to withdraw from co-hosting the 2030 FIFA World Cup if Morocco is chosen to stage the final.
Spain, Portugal and Morocco will jointly host the tournament, but FIFA has yet to decide which country will stage the title clash.
Feijoo heads the conservative Popular Party, insisted during an interview with Spanish television programme El Chiringuito on Thursday that Spain deserved to host the final.
He also confirmed that he would seek to withdraw Spain from organising the tournament if he were in power and FIFA awarded the final to Morocco.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez had earlier expressed his government’s intention to secure the final, while national team coach Luis de la Fuente reiterated on Friday that he wanted the match played in Spain.
Morocco has also made its ambitions clear. Royal Moroccan Football Federation president Fouzi Lekjaa claimed in September that Casablanca would host the final.
However, Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch subsequently clarified that the matter had not been discussed with Spain and Portugal.
FIFA has maintained that no decision has been made regarding the final venue.
