Does the public care? Is anyone watching?
The impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte seems to follow a certain pattern. We might think of it as Netflix seasons: The first one ran for nine trial dates, involved Article IV, on grave threats, and ended before the State of the Nation Address. The second ran for 14 trial dates, involved Article I, on confidential funds, and ended abruptly with a call for amici curiae. This week, the third season started, involving unexplained wealth.
The question is: Does the public care? Is anyone watching?
In this new episode of In the Public Square, Rappler columnist John Nery is joined by the managing director of Fifty5Blue Jay Bautista, to make sense of the public’s interest on the impeachment trial.
