Malacañang has accepted the resignation of Secretary Henry Aguda of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla said Saturday.

Remulla made the announcement when he was asked on his radio program about the fate of Aguda, who had admitted that he was "aware of reports circulating" regarding his position.

"Nag-resign. Tinanggap na 'yung resignation," Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla said in his radio program.

(He resigned. His resignation was accepted.)

GMA News Online has reached out to Aguda, Malacañang, and the DICT for comment on the matter, but they have yet to respond as of posting time.

The development comes just three days after Press Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro said Aguda would stay on as the agency's chief. At the time, she said the Palace has not received information about Aguda's resignation.

Aguda assumed the helm at the DICT in March 2025, succeeding Ivan Uy.

In his statement read by Castro on Wednesday, Aguda said, "As Secretary of DICT, I serve at the pleasure of the President, and I fully recognize and respect the President’s prerogative in matters concerning his Cabinet and his administration. My focus remains on carrying out my responsibilities and serving the Filipino people to the best of my ability." — VDV, GMA News
