Kaizer Chiefs news: Latest update on Mayo and Ngcobo

Translate

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Fernando Da Cruz has provided the latest update on Khanyisa Mayo and Nkosingiphile Ngcobo.

The two attackers have struggled for game time under the new coach this season, with some Amakhosi supporters calling for their inclusion as the Soweto giants continue to search for consistency.

Mayo, sidelined since pre-season, is still working to regain full fitness, according to Da Cruz.

Mayo yet to feature for Kaizer Chiefs this season

“There is nothing that happened with these two players, as I have already said last time, Khanyisa Mayo is not ready physically for the moment,” Da Cruz told the media.

“He worked hard for that to come back, but he’s on the good way.”

Meanwhile, Ngcobo has made just two appearances for Kaizer Chiefs this season.

The attacking midfielder’s limited involvement has raised questions among supporters, but Da Cruz insists that competition for places has made it difficult for him to break into the team.

“And to speak about Mshini [Nkosingiphile Ngcobo], he has a lot of competition for his position, with Shabalala, and Vilakazi, who is able to play in this position as well.

“So he must keep his motivation; he must keep working, because we need everyone during the season,” Da Cruz said.

Kaizer Chiefs will be hoping to return to winning ways when they take on Siwelele in the Carling Knockout Cup on Sunday. Failure to advance to the semi-finals will put more pressure on coach Fernando Da Cruz.
