Trade Minister urges laboratories, factories to work as partners

Translate

The Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has called for stronger collaboration between research laboratories and factories to enable Ghana to produce more of the goods it consumes and expand its manufacturing capacity.

She made the call on Friday, October 23, 2026, at the 14th Global Biennial Congress and Alumni Homecoming of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi.

Addressing alumni of the university from Ghana and across the world, the Minister urged them to contribute their expertise, time, resources and capital to support the institution’s development and strengthen its role in national industrial growth.

“My message to our alumni is bring your problems, your time, your capital and your work home to KNUST. Our laboratories and our factories must work as partners if Ghana is to make what it consumes and sell what it makes,” she said.

The Minister’s remarks highlighted the need for closer partnerships between universities, government and industry to translate research and innovation into practical solutions that support local production and economic development.

The event was attended by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and other distinguished guests.
