The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has completed arrangements to refund excess Hajj deposits to intending pilgrims who paid ₦8m as initial deposit for the 2027 Hajj exercise.

A statement on Wednesday by the board’s Public Relations Officer, Sulaiman Dederi, said the Director-General of the Board, Alhaji Abubakar Matawalle, made the disclosure in his office on Wednesday.

“Arrangements has been concluded for the refund of excess payments to 500 intending pilgrims who initially deposited ₦8,000,000 each,” the Director General of the board was quoted as saying.

He explained that following the announcement of the final Hajj fare of ₦7,672,822, each of the affected pilgrims is entitled to a refund of ₦327,178, representing the difference between the initial deposit and the final Hajj fare.

Matawalle therefore urged all affected pilgrims to visit the Board through their respective Local Government Hajj Centre officers and submit the necessary documents to facilitate the refund process.

The required documents include their bank account details, a photocopy of the original payment receipt, and a formal letter of request for the refund.

The Director-General further directed all affected pilgrims to submit the required documents through their respective Local Government Hajj Centre officers on or before Monday, 26 October 2026, to enable the commencement of payments.

Matawalle commended the Kano State Government for its continued support and contributions towards ensuring the welfare of pilgrims in the state.
