In pictures: TN CM Vijay, Ajith Kumar at Silverstone Le Mans Cup, tamil diaspora turns up in huge numbers

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay and TN Sports Minister Aadhav Arjuna were spotted at the iconic Silverstone racing circuit in the UK.

This is Vijay’s first overseas trip after taking charge as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister.

The politician and actor flagged off the Silverstone round of the Le Mans Cup 2026 on Saturday, September 12.

The Le Mans Cup is an international sports car endurance racing series organised by the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO)

Vijay was in attendance for the fifth round of the tournament at the iconic Silverstone circuit in the United Kingdom.

Vijay was not the only Indian actor present at the race. His long-time colleague in the industry, Ajith Kumar, was one of the participants.

The 55-year-old competed in the LMP3 Pro/Am category for Ajith RedAnt by Virage, sharing a Ligier JS P325-Toyota prototype with French driver Romain Vozniak.

“We’ve been colleagues in the film industry for the last 34 years, and I’m very happy for him that he’s now the Chief Minister,” Ajith told reporters.

Ajith debuted as a lead actor in the 1993 film Amaravathy, and Vijay in the 1992 film Naalaiya Theerpu. The duo has acted in one film together, Rajavin Parvaiyile in 1995.

Actor Trisha, who has featured in a number of films with both the TN CM and Ajith, was also there to follow proceedings.
