Following last weekend’s Nationaal Executive Commitee (NEC) meeting, SAFA confirmed their stand on the Danny Jordaan case.

The FA further committed to interdece in the criminal hearing at the Palm Ridge Magristrate’s Court. They will defend the newly re-elected president and other officials against the fraud and corruption wrongdoing.

SAFA ANNOUNCE DECISION ON DANNY JORDAAN’S CASE

Jordaan, the Chief Financial Officer Gronie Hluyo, Grit Communications Director Trevor Neethling and former CEO Russel Paul are involved. They’ve been asked to address allegations on theft, corruption and fraud.

SAFA insists that it never laid a criminal complaint against its president or the other officials involved in the case.

“The Association has never lodged a complaint with the SAPS, the Hawks or any other authority,” SAFA said in its statement.

The federation state they were not a complainant in the proceedings, as mentioned in a letter written by CEO Lydia Monyepao in December 2024.

According to the statement, the complainants are disgruntled former SAFA NEC members and employees who brought the matter in their personal capacities.

The assiciation further highlighted its audit history during the period under investigation by the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA).

“It is worth adding that SAFA received unqualified audits for the period of this investigation by the National Prosecuting Authority and the subsequent audit period to date,” the association said.

Despite the ongoing criminal proceedings, SAFA has resolved to pay all legal costs incurred by Jordaan and Hluyo, including expenses already incurred.

SAFA TO DEFEND ITS PRESIDENT

The NEC has also resolved to submit a detailed written statement to the court refuting allegations of wrongdoing against Jordaan, Hluyo and former acting CEO Russel Paul.

Furthermore, SAFA intends to take civil action against individuals it believes have damaged the association’s reputation or brought its officials into disrepute.

“SAFA shall also institute civil action against any person or persons who have brought SAFA into disrepute or damaged the name of SAFA and its officials,” the statement read.

The association will also appoint an attorney and Senior Counsel to attend future court proceedings on a watching brief.
