MARIVELES, Bataan – Mariveles’ agriculture office is investigating an oil spill reported by fishermen in waters off the sub-village of Naswe in Barangay Ipag.

Guillermo Mangayao, a staff member of the Mariveles Municipal Agriculture Office, said they have not yet determined where the oil slick originated.

Fishermen spotted about 25 liters of crude or used oil on Wednesday and reported it to the Philippine Coast Guard Station (PCG) in Bataan. The PCG deployed an oil boom to prevent the substance from spreading to adjoining coastal villages.
