Indonesia champions principled diplomacy to uphold global trust

Translate

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia will continue to prioritize principled, non-aligned diplomacy to maintain the trust of its global partners amidst rapid geopolitical shifts and rising global instability, Foreign Minister Arrmanatha Nasir announced.

"In today's increasingly uncertain world, principles are becoming ever more important. When so much is changing rapidly, the world seeks partners who remain steadfast," Arrmanatha stated in his inaugural press statement here on Monday.

"In a world full of uncertainty, Indonesia must be a source of certainty," he asserted.

Speaking following the handover of the foreign minister's portfolio at the Pancasila Building, Arrmanatha affirmed that amid complex geopolitical challenges, Indonesia's foreign policy will remain consistent with its traditional independent and active doctrine and the mandate of the 1945 Constitution.

He noted that the constitutional mandate - to protect the nation, promote general welfare, educate the public and uphold world order - will continue to serve as the foundation of Indonesian diplomacy.

To remain a reliable pillar for the global community, Indonesia will not bind itself to any military alliance or geopolitical bloc, he stressed.

"Indonesia chooses principles," Arrmanatha said, adding that national diplomacy will always be anchored in national interests that directly benefit the public.

Through this approach, he noted that Indonesia will continue to build its reputation as a bridge builder and peacemaker on the global stage.

Indonesia will also actively advocate for multilateralism, including pursuing a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council for the 2029-2030 term and pushing for comprehensive UN reforms to make international bodies more effective and representative.

Arrmanatha officially assumed the position of Foreign Minister after taking the oath of office before President Prabowo Subianto on October 1, succeeding Sugiono, who was appointed Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs.
